Yes, you can laugh and mock this, but after running for more than a decade the Gamedev.js Weekly newsletter finally got a mobile template, since the old one originally made in 2014 wasn’t even responsive.
I guess it was less than a decade, since people started complaining after a few years, but it was always connected to the plan of redesigning the website and putting newsletter’s content on it.
As you can imagine this never happened, even though the designs are ready for a year or two now. It’s not the legendary “new js13kGames backend” kind of story, but it’s slowly getting there.
I’ve decided to break down the big plans into smaller schunks to see if there’s anything I can do myself. I haven’t done any serious front-end development work in twelve years, but starting a new (mobile) template in Mailchimp didn’t feel like a difficult task.
The whole thing took me, like, a few hours. Which means my procrastination was delaying half a day of work for half a decade - now that’s something you don’t see often!
Anyway, it’s done, and I can move on to the next task on my TODO list. Cross it off, and repeat until all the old tasks are done.
